To ensure conditions guaranteeing the safety of the staff and students of the University, USUE rector Yakov Silin signed an order "On measures to prevent and to contain the spread of new coronavirus infection and other acute viral diseases."
Due to the threat of the coronavirus outbreak and acute viral diseases in the Sverdlovsk region, several measures are being introduced at USUE to prevent the spread of infection. Among them, from March 16, 2020, until a special order there is a ban for mass events, an invitation of representatives of USUE foreign partners for negotiations and participation in University events in the Russian Federation. All new foreign citizens arrived at USUE shall be for mandatorily examined by doctors, monitored and quarantined for at least 14 days from the date of their arrival in Yekaterinburg. All foreign students of studying under all programs of bachelor’s and master’s courses shall be personally informed on transfer to distance e-learning.
Until a special order, it is banned to send students to any events and to undergo all types of internships outside the Russian Federation, as well as to send University staff on business trips abroad.
The University introduces enhanced sanitary-epidemiological and preventive measures, including the installation of disinfectants in the University buildings (academic buildings No. 1 and No. 2, student dormitories); the cleaning of all University premises (including dormitories) using virucidal disinfectants, regular (every 2 hours) airing of working rooms, informing employees on the need to observe personal and public hygiene rules. All divisions of the USUE food production facility shall use disposable utensils, followed by their collection, disinfection, and destruction following the established procedure, as well as monthly (until July 2020) disinfection of the ventilation and air conditioning system.
To implement the orders of the RF Ministry of Science and Higher dated March 14, 2020 No. 398 "On the functioning of organizations subordinate to the RF Ministry of Science and Higher Education, under the conditions of preventing the spread of new coronavirus infection in the Russian Federation" and No. 397 "On the organization of educational activities at institutions implementing educational programs, in the context of containing the spread of new coronavirus infection in the territory of the Russian Federation,” the USUE management has approved a set of measures relating to the organization of educational process in the context of COVID -19 prevention.
To ensure safety, to protect the health of students and University staff and to prevent the spread of new coronavirus infection, as well as taking into account the recommendations of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the University management has approved a set of measures.
Due to the worsening epidemiological situation in some countries and the spread of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov signed an order https://www.minobrnauki.gov.ru/ru/documents/card/?id_4=1064&cat=/ru/documents/docs/ , which recommended to organize student training using distance learning technologies.
USUE rector Yakov Silin signed an order recommending the organization of the work of students and teachers through the electronic information and educational environment of the University, using various educational technologies that allow teachers and students to interact at a distance (indirectly).
Today, preparatory measures are being taken to transfer USUE students to individual curricula using distance learning technologies and e-learning.
Students will study using electronic educational resources, online university courses, and other open online educational courses recommended by teachers.
Classes will be held in full under the approved schedule. The educational process will be organized using the University’s electronic educational information environment https://portal.usue.ru and https://e-learning.usue.ru/, and online events will be provided by Microsoft Teams software package Office 365.
To ensure safety, to protect the health of students and University employees, and to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection, students will be asked to return to their places of permanent residence. The students who have already paid for accommodation in University dormitories will be offered either to obtain a refund or to make some recalculations to use this money in the future.
Foreign students living in dormitories who are unable for objective reasons (airspace and borders are closed) to leave the territory of Russia will be provided with access to distance learning at the place of their current stay. At the same time, it is important to understand that if at least one resident of a dormitory is infected, the University will be forced to immediately quarantine the building.
The measures taken by USUE are valid from March 16 until further order of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
